It was a last minute opportunity but the club and it's players managed to bring it all together. Special thanks to the lads from Harrogate, Nottingham, Sheffield and Wakefield for being such a big part of it given short notice, and for the referee and linesmen who definitely didn't make any dodgy calls (sorry Curt!).
The biggest club to ever play at the Riverside (literally!). Teams were selected and kits purchased or amended (some of us took existing shirts into the store to have names and numbers added), cameras set up and ready to go!
After a walkout with players and their children to the sound of Pigbag, the evening game was played in fantastic weather and even better spirits.
The game itself ended 1-1 due to a couple of fantastic penalties from either side from Jay Pepper (Red team) and Chris Taggart (Blue team), with Adam Cree unfortunately missing a penalty chance for the Reds (which may or may not have landed yet!), after being denied by the hands of Drew Moores (who wasn't in goal it should be added).
With the draw after 90 minutes the game went to a penalty kick contest in which the home side took a 9-8 victory thanks to Curt Collantine, who had an earlier goal disallowed for offside (check out the decision here).
Thanks again to everyone involved! The video from the game is now live over at our Facebook, and can be found here.
